Becoming an Exchange Student

A North Penn student can express interest in becoming an exchange student to one of our partner schools.  Students are generally sent during their 11th grade (junior year) therefore an interested student needs to make application in their 10th grade (sophomore year). Learn More >>P1010434

Becoming a Host Family

The goal of the North Penn International Friendship Committee (NPIFC) is to promote international understanding and goodwill among the people of the world through participation in non-profit exchange programs at North Penn High School.The committee is the official representative for the high school principal in administering the exchange program. The approved programs for North Penn High School include AFS USA.Inc, Youth for Understanding (YFU), and the International Friendship Exchange (IFE). The International Friendship Exchange (IFE) includes direct sister school relationships with schools in Aalen, Germany; Salzgitter, Germany; and Toulouse, France; Bordeaux, France; and Madrid, Spain.  Each year the NPIFC sends students abroad and receives students to North Penn for a year of study through these programs.The North Penn International Friendship Committee is an official US government approved exchange student sponsor. We are designated by the United States Department of State as the official organization for the Exchange Visitor Program for the North Penn School District. Please report any unusual circumstances regarding the exchange program to the North Penn International Friendship Committee by contacting us at our email address northpennifc@yahoo.com In addition the Department of State has implemented a contact for secondary school students which became effective August 1, 2009. This toll free number is made available for host families, exchange students and anyone who wishes to report circumstances impacting the students’ health, safety and well being during their exchange visitor program.
